Focus on promoting and giving play to the leading role of industry

Wuxi has clearly defined the development idea of the Internet of Things, which is "to bring industry with application, expand market with demonstration, and promote promotion with model". In recent years, there have been 17 major application demonstration projects undertaken by Wuxi, of which the "Internet of Things anti-theft for residential electric bicycles" project determined by the Ministry of Public Security has been promoted in 16 provinces and cities across the country, and nearly one million electric vehicles; The first phase of the "smart environmental protection" project determined by the Ministry of Environmental Protection has passed the acceptance audit and is striving for large-scale promotion; The "Xijing Smart Substation" project determined by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology is also fully integrated into the national grid standards.

On the other hand, encourage and guide enterprises to actively explore business models, develop new products, provide new services, and explore the profit points and value-added services of the application of the Internet of Things industry. Among them, projects such as Perception Group's IoT finance, Zhigu Technology's aviation steward, Hailan Group's intelligent warehousing, and CR Pharma's intelligent logistics have innovatively applied IoT technology and achieved comprehensive benefits. As of last year, Wuxi enterprises have undertaken Internet of Things projects in more than 400 cities in more than 30 countries.

The industrial agglomeration effect of introduced enterprises appears

By the end of 2016, there were nearly 2000 Internet of Things enterprises in the city, with operating revenue reaching 204.5 billion yuan, up 5.1 times and 9.3 times respectively compared with the end of 2009. The growth rate of operating revenue exceeded 20% for five consecutive years, basically forming an Internet of Things industrial chain covering perception, network communication, processing applications, key commonalities, and basic support.

At the same time, Wuxi accelerated the development of the Internet of Things industrial characteristic park, and made efforts to improve the level of industrial development. The Wuxi (national) intelligent transportation industrial park was jointly awarded by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Ministry of Public Security. The smart sports industrial park jointly built by provinces and cities was inaugurated. The smart health industrial park has established a medical health Internet of Things product evaluation center.

Wuxi also strives to attract enterprises, make key enterprises bigger and stronger, incubate and cultivate small and medium-sized enterprises, and a group of enterprises that master core technology, have a large market share, and maintain a high growth rate, such as Aerospace Science and Technology Beidou Internet of Vehicles Business Company, China Security Internet of Things Group, AsiaInfo Group, Meixin Semiconductor, and Befrid, have emerged in the Internet of Things segment. As of the first half of this year, there were 24 Internet of Things enterprises listed in the city, and 54 Internet of Things enterprises listed on the New Third Board.

Overcoming technological innovation and leading industry development

At present, the research and development of the Internet of Things in Wuxi has received strong support from major national science and technology projects, the 863 Plan, the Internet of Things Development Project and other projects. Innovation resources are also gathered here. The Internet of Things Research and Development Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Internet of Things Engineering Technology Center of the Ministry of Environmental Protection of the People's Republic of China, the Internet of Things Research Institute of the National Health and Family Planning Commission, 19 universities including Tsinghua University, Peking University and Fudan University have settled down successively. 41 key research and development institutions of the Internet of Things have been gathered, and the backbone units in the field of the Internet of Things throughout the country have basically gathered in our city. Wuxi Internet of Things Industry Research Institute was reappointed as the chief editor of the ISO/IEC Internet of Things architecture international standard project team, and firmly grasped the voice of the Internet of Things international standard on behalf of China.

Strengthen the service industry atmosphere and keep improving

We learned from the interview that behind the prosperity of the Internet of Things industry is a large wave of policy support. The municipal government has not only set up a special fund for the development of the Internet of Things, but also issued policy documents such as the "Several Policy Opinions on Accelerating the Development of the Internet of Things", and constantly improved security services in terms of land use, taxation, financing, etc. We also focused on strengthening financial services in the Internet of Things and helping small and micro enterprises develop. In addition, efforts were made to implement platform construction and improvement actions, encouraging enterprises to cooperate with user units and scientific research institutes to tackle key problems, and 55 key public platforms of the Internet of Things were built, basically realizing full coverage of the technological innovation chain.
